Positive Choices

Reducing the number of young children being taken into care through support for young people at high risk of becoming pregnant or at risk of experiencing the removal of a child.

Project Description

The programme aims to reduce the number of unplanned pregnancies and reduce the number of children being taken into care.

Positive Choices seeks to support up to 50 young people over two years, focusing on those at high risk of removal and older care leavers. The programme provides early, intensive intervention when a viable pregnancy is confirmed through to becoming successful parents where a child has previously been removed.

Positive Choices provides intensive, person-centred support to parents, including information surrounding parenting, sex and relationships, and aids parents to make informed parenthood decisions. Positive Choices seeks to offer a single point of access to this essential support, which includes referrals on to other services.
