This session will explore how Leeds has taken a systematic, evidence-based approach to reducing the need for children and young people to become looked after, as well as addressing care planning and permanence for children in care. The day will cover: how Leeds used national and local research to inform its improvement journey; the use of Outcomes Based Accountability (OBA) to ‘turn the curve’ on looked after numbers; investment in in evidence-based services such as Family Group Conferences and Multi-Systemic Therapy; and how improvements to our support offer have resulted in increased use of kinship care arrangements.
