The Minister of State for Children and Families, Nadhim Zahawi, will chair the newly created Partners in Practice Advisory Board. The board will attempt to understand excellent practice and provide advice on how it can be most effectively disseminated along with reviewing the overall value for money aspect from Partners in Practice (PiP) activity, as well as general recommendations on how the programme can be strengthened.
The board will consist of representatives from the Department:
Graham Archer, Director of Children’s Social Care
Isabelle Trowler, Chief Social Worker
Along with five external board members, we want to ensure that the PiP programme maximises its potential to share best practice and improve children’s social care. We have recruited board members who can support this aim and bring a different perspective to the programme through their roles as leaders in large organisations, with expertise in finance and change management.
The external board members are:
Stella Manzie: An experienced ex-local authority Chief Executive who successfully led Birmingham and Rotherham Councils. Stella has also worked as Director General Finance at the Scottish Executive.
David Bird: Chief Executive Coop Energy, and board member of Mid-Counties Cooperative. David was previously E.On UK, Director of Customer Operations. David brings skills from his background in customer service and is experienced at change management and working on non-executive boards.
Helen Nixseaman: Helen has recently retured as a partner with Price Waterhouse Cooper. Helen brings leadership experience and expertise in finance and governance.
Michael Sanders, Director of Research, Behavioural Insights team and David Fairhurst, CEO Mutual Ventures, will provide additional advice for the board.
Stella Manzie, David Bird and Helen Nixseaman were selected through a fair and open recruitment process. David Fairhurst has been asked to support the board as part of his current work in the DfE supporting the Innovation Programme. Michael Sanders will advise the board in his capacity as Chief Scientist and Director of Research at the Behavioural Insights Team.
